दोहे
1.
श्रीगुरु चरन सरोज रज, निज मनु मुकुर सुधारि।
बरनउँ रघुबर बिमल जसु, जो दायक फल चारि॥
With the dust of the lotus feet of my Guru, I cleanse the mirror of my mind and describe the pure glory of Lord Rama, the bestower of the four fruits of life (Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksha).
2.
बुद्धिहीन तनु जानिके, सुमिरौं पवन-कुमार।
बल बुधि विद्या देहु मोहिं, हरहु कलेस विकार॥
Knowing myself to be ignorant and weak, I meditate upon the Son of the Wind, Hanuman. Grant me strength, wisdom, and knowledge, and remove my afflictions and impurities.
चौपाई (Chaupais) – 40 Verses
1.
जय हनुमान ज्ञान गुण सागर।
जय कपीस तिहुँ लोक उजागर॥
Victory to you, O Hanuman, ocean of knowledge and virtue. Victory to the Lord of the monkeys, who is illustrious in all three worlds.
2.
रामदूत अतुलित बल धामा।
अंजनि-पुत्र पवनसुत नामा॥
Messenger of Rama, you are the abode of incomparable strength. You are the son of Anjani and known as the son of the Wind.
3.
महाबीर बिक्रम बजरंगी।
कुमति निवार सुमति के संगी॥
Great hero, mighty as a thunderbolt. You dispel evil thoughts and are the companion of good wisdom.
4.
कंचन बरन बिराज सुबेसा।
कानन कुंडल कुंचित केसा॥
Your complexion is golden and your attire is beautiful. You wear earrings and have curly hair.
5.
हाथ बज्र औ ध्वजा बिराजे।
काँधे मूँज जनेऊ साजे॥
In one hand you carry a thunderbolt and in the other a flag, and you wear the sacred thread across your shoulder.
6.
शंकर सुवन केसरी नंदन।
तेज प्रताप महा जग वंदन॥
You are the incarnation of Lord Shiva and the son of Kesari. Your glory and valor are revered throughout the world.
7.
विद्यावान गुणी अति चातुर।
राम काज करिबे को आतुर॥
You are wise, virtuous, and extremely clever. You are ever eager to perform tasks for Lord Rama.
8.
प्रभु चरित्र सुनिबे को रसिया।
राम लखन सीता मन बसिया॥
You delight in listening to the stories of Lord Rama and dwell in the hearts of Rama, Lakshman, and Sita.
9.
सूक्ष्म रूप धरि सियंहिं दिखावा।
बिकट रूप धरि लंक जरावा॥
Assuming a minute form, you appeared before Sita. Taking a dreadful form, you set Lanka ablaze.
10.
भीम रूप धरि असुर संहारे।
रामचन्द्र के काज सवारे॥
Assuming a formidable form, you destroyed the demons and fulfilled the mission of Lord Rama.
11.
लाय सजीवन लखन जियाए।
श्रीरघुबीर हरषि उर लाए॥
You brought the Sanjeevani herb and revived Lakshman. Lord Rama embraced you with joy.
12.
रघुपति कीन्ही बहुत बड़ाई।
तुम मम प्रिय भरत सम भाई॥
Lord Rama praised you greatly, saying, “You are as dear to me as my brother Bharata.”
13.
सहस बदन तुम्हरो जस गावैं।
अस कहि श्रीपति कंठ लगावैं॥
“Thousands of mouths sing your glory,” said Lord Vishnu as he embraced you.
14.
सनकादिक ब्रह्मादि मुनीसा।
नारद सारद सहित अहीसा॥
Sanaka, Brahma, sages, Narada, Saraswati, and the serpent king all sing your praises.
15.
जम कुबेर दिगपाल जहाँ ते।
कवि कोबिद कहि सके कहाँ ते॥
Yama, Kubera, and the guardians of the directions—all struggle to describe your glory.
16.
तुम उपकार सुग्रीवहिं कीन्हा।
राम मिलाय राजपद दीन्हा॥
You rendered great service to Sugriva by introducing him to Rama, who gave him his kingdom.
17.
तुम्हरो मंत्र विभीषन माना।
लंकेस्वर भए सब जग जाना॥
Vibhishana followed your advice and became the king of Lanka, as known throughout the world.
18.
जुग सहस्त्र जोजन पर भानू।
लील्यो ताहि मधुर फल जानू॥
You leapt to swallow the sun, mistaking it for a sweet fruit, even though it was thousands of miles away.
19.
प्रभु मुद्रिका मेलि मुख माहीं।
जलधि लाँघि गए अचरज नाहीं॥
With Lord Rama’s ring in your mouth, you crossed the ocean—an incredible feat!
20.
दुर्गम काज जगत के जेते।
सुगम अनुग्रह तुम्हरे तेते॥
All difficult tasks in the world become easy by your grace.
21.
राम दुआरे तुम रखवारे।
होत न आज्ञा बिनु पैसारे॥
You guard the door of Rama; none can enter without your permission.
22.
सब सुख लहै तुम्हारी सरना।
तुम रक्षक काहू को डरना॥
All happiness is found under your protection; with you as guardian, what is there to fear?
23.
आपन तेज सम्हारो आपै।
तीनों लोक हाँक तें कांपै॥
You control your immense energy, and even the three worlds tremble at your roar.
24.
भूत पिशाच निकट नहिं आवै।
महाबीर जब नाम सुनावै॥
Ghosts and evil spirits flee when your mighty name is spoken.
25.
नासै रोग हरै सब पीरा।
जपत निरंतर हनुमत बीरा॥
Diseases and pain are eradicated by constant chanting of your name.
26.
संकट तें हनुमान छुड़ावै।
मन क्रम बचन ध्यान जो लावै॥
Hanuman frees devotees from difficulties who remember him in thought, word, and deed.
27.
सब पर राम तपस्वी राजा।
तिन के काज सकल तुम साजा॥
Rama, the ascetic king, is supreme over all; and you completed all his tasks.
28.
और मनोरथ जो कोई लावै।
सोइ अमित जीवन फल पावै॥
Whoever brings their desires to you gains immeasurable rewards in life.
29.
चारों जुग परताप तुम्हारा।
है परसिद्ध जगत उजियारा॥
Your glory spans all four ages and is renowned throughout the world.
30.
साधु-संत के तुम रखवारे।
असुर निकंदन राम दुलारे॥
You are the protector of saints and sages, the destroyer of demons, and dear to Lord Rama.
31.
अष्टसिद्धि नौ निधि के दाता।
अस बर दीन जानकी माता॥
You are the giver of eight spiritual powers and nine kinds of wealth, as granted by Mother Sita.
32.
राम रसायन तुम्हरे पासा।
सदा रहो रघुपति के दासा॥
You hold the divine nectar of devotion to Rama and always remain his loyal servant.
33.
तुम्हरे भजन राम को पावै।
जनम जनम के दुख बिसरावै॥
Through your worship, one attains Rama and forgets the sufferings of many lifetimes.
34.
अंत काल रघुबर पुर जाई।
जहाँ जन्म हरिभक्त कहाई॥
At the time of death, one goes to Rama’s abode and is reborn as a devotee.
35.
और देवता चित्त न धरई।
हनुमत सेइ सर्ब सुख करई॥
No need to worship other deities; serving Hanuman brings all joy.
36.
संकट कटै मिटै सब पीरा।
जो सुमिरै हनुमत बलबीरा॥
All troubles end and pain is removed by remembering Hanuman the brave.
37.
जय जय जय हनुमान गोसाईं।
कृपा करहु गुरुदेव की नाईं॥
Victory, victory, victory to you, Hanuman! Bless me like a true Guru.
38.
जो शत बार पाठ कर कोई।
छूटहि बंदि महा सुख होई॥
Whoever recites this a hundred times is released from bondage and gains great joy.
39.
जो यह पढ़ै हनुमान चालीसा।
होय सिद्धि साखी गौरीसा॥
Those who recite this Hanuman Chalisa will attain spiritual perfection—Lord Shiva himself is the witness.
40.
तुलसीदास सदा हरि चेरा।
कीजै नाथ हृदय महँ डेरा॥
Tulsidas, ever the servant of Hari, prays: “O Lord, dwell in my heart forever.
अंतिम दोहा
पवनतनय संकट हरन, मंगल मूरति रूप।
राम लखन सीता सहित, हृदय बसहु सुर भूप॥
O Son of the Wind, remover of troubles and embodiment of auspiciousness, dwell in my heart along with Rama, Lakshman, and Sita.
